Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has delivered a decisive update on Manchester United’s slim chances of signing midfielder Frenkie de Jong in the January transfer window.The Barcelona star has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford for seemingly the whole of 2022, with his Nou Camp future looking decidedly unclear.
Indeed, earlier in the current campaign it looked as if a move to Manchester was very much on.
De Jong was not starting regularly and his relationship with Barca boss Xavi was not particularly great.
However, things have since turned around and the 25-year-old, who has also been linked with Liverpool, now looks happier than ever in Catalonia.
De Jong also has a contract that runs until the summer of 2026, meaning Barcelona are in no real hurry to sell.
