World No. 1 Danil Medvedev says he has accepted the ATP’s ruling to compete under a neutral banner but added he hopes it will be just temporary. The ATP, WTA, and ITF released a joint statement, in which they all condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Russia and Belarus have been banned from team events but their players are allowed to continue to compete in international events. However, they will not compete under the name or flag of Russia or Belarus. Medvedev told RIA Novosti that “our task is to develop tennis in the countries where each of us comes from and all over the world. “For that, you have to play tennis every week at every tournament.
